Monitor and control enclosure environmental settings and components, such as temperature, fans, power supplies, and enclosure LEDs with Enclosure Management Module (EMM) from Dell. The EMM is a hot-plug Field-Replaceable Unit (FRU) that provides data path and enclosure management functions. It controls write access to the hard disk drives and communicates enclosure attributes and states to the host server via SES. The EMM Status LED has a number of color/flash combinations with flash sequences indicating status. At RTS the unit only supports SAS drives and the EMM is labeled as such. It has a SAS Port (in) connector which provides SAS connection for cabling to host or next upchain expansion enclosure (unified mode only). It also features SAS Port (out) connector which provides SAS connection for cabling to the next downchain expansion enclosure in a daisy chain (unified mode only).
