3G-SDI to 3G-SDI Scaler with Audio Embedding and De-Embedding

The Extron DSC 3G‑3G A is a high performance 3G‑SDI scaler that converts between 3G‑SDI, HD‑SDI, and SDI resolutions and frame rates. It accepts, scales, and outputs SMPTE video resolutions from 480i and 576i up to 1080p/60 and 2K. The DSC 3G‑3G A features advanced Extron video signal processing with deinterlacing of signals up to 1080i, and Deep Color processing. The DSC 3G‑3G A also provides flexible audio capability with analog audio embedding, de‑embedding, and level adjustments. Dual SDI outputs, genlock, and an input loop‑through facilitate integration in demanding professional environments, while the compact enclosure simplifies installation. The DSC 3G‑3G A is ideal for applications with professional video systems, including video editing and production, rental and staging, medical imaging, and large‑scale presentations.

High Performance Video Processing
The DSC 3G‑3G A provides high performance deinterlacing of all interlaced signals up to 1080i, and Deep Color processing to deliver optimal image quality. Automatic 3:2 and 2:2 pulldown detection maximizes image quality for content sources originating from film. In addition, the DSC 3G‑3G A provides two simultaneous 3G‑SDI/HD‑SDI/SDI outputs so that two displays can be driven simultaneously, without the need for additional equipment.

To enhance and simplify integration, the DSC 3G‑3G A offers automatic input cable equalization and reclocking on the buffered SDI loop‑through. Input equalization restores and reshapes incoming 3G‑SDI signals, reducing the need for additional signal conditioning equipment by compensating for weak source signals or signal loss from a long input cable.

Selectable FILL and FOLLOW modes are also available to ensure the proper aspect ratio of the output. FILL mode provides full screen output, while FOLLOW mode preserves the original aspect ratio of the input signal.

Enhanced Audio Capabilities
The DSC 3G‑3G A offers enhanced audio management capabilities, including SDI audio embedding and de-embedding, input gain and attenuation controls, input audio muting, and output volume control. To suit the needs of the application, convenient analog two channel audio input and output connections are provided for embedding audio onto the SDI output, and sending de‑embedded content to a sound system or other audio destination. The output can be set for stereo or dual mono. The DSC 3G‑3G A provides gain and attenuation adjustments for the analog stereo input, as well as the ability to mute the analog stereo or SDI audio input.

Multiple Options for Control and Operation
The DSC 3G‑3G A features front panel controls for quick access to functions. Remote configuration and control are available via RS‑232 and USB. The on-screen menus provide control over the unit's functions and settings, including quick access to key parameters such as input and output video formats and resolutions. Additionally, LED indicators on the front panel provide visual confirmation of input and output signal format, and signal presence. The DSC 3G‑3G A is housed in a 1U, half rack width metal enclosure and can be easily integrated into a variety of environments.
